Heat Transfer Oil

SPEL Thermic Oil Series is a range of heat transfer oil formulated with highly refined hydro cracked paraffinic base oil with specially selected additives to provide exceptional oxidation and thermal stability, thus, minimizing viscosity changes and deposits forming at the heating surfaces. The base oil used has very low sulphur content and hence higher availability. SPEL also has a range of completely synthetic thermic fluids.

High temperature heat transfer fluids are used in operating temperatures of 148 °C to 400 °C

A heat transfer fluid’s operating range is the temperature range between the pumpability point and the recommended maximum bulk fluid operating temperature.

SPEL Thermic Fluids have the ability to withstand thermal cracking (thermal degradation) which is the primary factor in setting its maximum bulk fluid operating temperature.

As a general rule of thumb, the higher the maximum bulk fluid operating temperature, the more expensive the fluid. This is due to the fact that the chemistries required to achieve acceptable thermal stability and heat transfer efficiency at elevated temperatures gets more complex and expensive as the temperature increases. The two primary types of fluids used by the majority of high temperature applications are:

Synthetic Thermic Fluids or Aromatics: Also known as “synthetics”. These consist of benzene-based chemistries and, depending on the specific type, have a bulk fluid operating range generally from -70°F to 750°F.

Petroleum-based: Also known as “hot oils”. These consist of paraffinic and/or naphthenic hydrocarbons. The bulk fluid operating range for these fluids are generally from -10°F to 600°F.

Thermic Fluid THERMOSPEL 500

This is a Thermic Fluid Heat Transfer Oil used in indirect form of heating systems in processing Industries and is recommended for well-designed heat transfer system up to 285 ⁰C. This oil has good Oxidation and Chemical stability, low volatility and it is non corrosive and non-toxic.

Thermic Fluid THERMOSPEL 600

This is a premium quality Heat Transfer Oil specifically developed for heat transfer system where bulk operating temperatures go up to 310 ⁰C. This product is derived from the finest quality petroleum base stocks and is fortified with high performance additives to enhance performance at higher temperatures. It has ability to withstand higher operating temperatures, reduced oxidation and thermal degradation and minimal fouling and deposit formation on heat transfer surface.

Due to its superior Rust Preventive properties it inhibits scaling formation thus giving better heat transfer performance for longer life.

This is a premium quality Synthetic Heat Transfer Oil. It is fortified with high performance additives to enhance performance at higher temperatures. It has ability to withstand higher operating temperatures, reduced oxidation and thermal degradation and minimal fouling and deposit formation on heat transfer surface. Due to its superior Rust Preventive properties it inhibits scaling formation thus giving better heat transfer performance for longer life.

Maximum Film temperature: Above 350 ⁰C and Bulk Temperature up to 330 ⁰C

SPEL Synthetic Thermic Fluid has reduced tendency of thermal cracking and hence lower drop in flash point as compared to mineral oil.
